Phab November 2018 update

Phab supports children, young people and adults with disabilities through 150 Phab Clubs across England and Wales with around 8,000 members, our Residential Projects Programme and wheelchair accessible holiday homes.

Once again in 2018 Phab’s Inclusive Living Experience (ILX) Projects, held at fully accessible outdoor activity centres in the Lake District and New Forest, made a real difference to the lives of 118 children and young people aged 4 to 22. Most of the children had physical, sensory or learning disabilities, some with complex medical needs. A small number were not disabled but the sibling of a disabled child attending.

The children, many away from home for the first time, had great fun enjoying exciting and challenging activities – including reaching the treetops, caving, canoeing, climbing and zooming down the zip wire.

Phab

With the support of 99 Phab volunteers, carers and staff they were able to spread their wings, make new friends and build their confidence, independence, self-esteem, personal, practical and communication skills. And parents were able to have a much-needed break, knowing their child was having a wonderful time away with Phab.

We are most grateful to the Hospital Saturday Fund for once again supporting these very special ILX Projects.
