The Rise School in Feltham

On 4 March 2019, Shelley Whittington, the Hospital Saturday Fund’s Company Secretary visited the Rise School in Feltham.

About The Rise School

The Rise School is a specialist school educating pupils with Autism in West London.

The Hospital Saturday Fund will be supporting the creation of The Rise School Sixth Form (RSSF). This will be established within the campus of West Thames College in Isleworth and will enable year 11 students to continue their educational journey and transition to the sixth form.

It will have the capacity to support 32 pupils in years 12 and 13, across a range of academic abilities and qualifications. Students attending RSSF will continue to benefit from the specialist tuition and holistic support that The Rise School offers. They will also be able to access the excellent infrastructure, wider curriculum of the college, and the social interaction with both mainstream students and students already studying at Ambitious College (another centre for students with Autism).

Shelley presented a cheque to some of the students who will be moving on to the sixth form in September. They will be studying courses in Media, Creative & Digital technologies, Carpentry & Joinery, Information & Creative Technology and Extended Certificate Information & Creative Technology.

A number of the students told her they had had their entrance interviews that week.

She was struck by the positive energy of the school and one of their key values, that is to "Be Proud". There is immense pride in the work and outcomes being achieved at the school, and after a very enthusiastic cheque presentation to the students, Shelley was really touched when the students presented her with a photo montage as a momento of her visit.
